Normally, we Northern Lights are described as rather brittle and restrained. The Gospelling Souls from Hanerau-Hademarschen prove that this can also be done differently.
Gospel, spirituals, rock and pop - partly in English, partly in German - characterize the colorful program of the nearly 60-member choir from the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district.
Founded more than 20 years ago as a choir of confirmands - at that time still under the name "Gospelchor Hanerau-Hademarschen", the "Gospelling Souls" developed into a polyphonic choir, supported instrumentally and vocally by the backing band, the "Rythm Souls" ,
The members of the choir at the age of 15 to 70 years have already completed some performances abroad. England, Scotland, Switzerland, Greece and the United States have been touring. The repertoire now includes more than 240 pieces ranging from the traditional gospel to the latest songs by Lady Gaga and Ed Sheeran, which bring the audience in the unmistakable choral sound.
At least at the well-known "Oh Happy Day" there is probably no more spectators who does not get up and enthusiastically claps.
